SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Providing exceptional patient care for over 40 years

Shockwave therapy uses high energy sound waves to stimulate healing, metabolism and blood flow. The effects of Shockwave treatment helps damaged tissue regenerate and heal.

The name Shockwave is misleading as there is no electrical shock given during the treatment. Shockwave was initially used in the medical field to treat kidney stones in the 1980’s. It is now a safe and effective treatment for soft tissue injuries. The treatment accelerates the healing process and is most effective with chronic pain where the body has been unable to heal an injury. Shockwave has been shown to reduce pain, increase metabolism, reduce muscle tension, help form new blood vessels and dissolve calcifications.

Patients receiving shockwave treatment can experience a temporary tender sensation and mild discomfort. Most patients describe Shockwave treatment to be a "good hurt" as it works on the injured tissue. We can utilize the Shockwave on its own or in combination with a Chiropractic treatment.
